Edgar Alanis - President/CEO
Edgar Alanis is the President and CEO of the Northbrook-based company, Unique Upholstery Carpet and Rug Cleaning. He expertly leads and manages the day-to-day business. Before acquiring the business from its founder, Unique Larry Rosenthal, he dedicated 16 years as a technician, team lead, and job site manager. During that time, he honed his skills in cleaning and restoring upholstery, carpets, and other surfaces in residential homes. In 2024, he took the helm of the business, ready to carry on the Unique mission of providing nothing short of exceptional customer service with top-notch products.
Edgar’s journey at Unique began in 2009 as a technician, and after eight years of dedication and growth, he transitioned into a management role. He underwent IICRC training to become a certified professional in cleaning, maintenance, and restoration. Over the years, he has gained a wealth of knowledge in eco-friendly and pet-friendly products and services, becoming a diligent team leader and mentor to his peers. He has established a sterling reputation for white-glove customer service among their customers.
Outside of managing Unique, Edgar is a wonderful husband and a proud father to two young boys. When he’s not busy making the world a better place, he loves watching sports (Go Cubs!), going to music and food festivals, traveling, and spending time with his family. Edgar and his wife, Jessica, have a mutual enjoyment for playing pool and have been in a pool league for 8 years.

This was my first experience using Unique Carpet and Rug Cleaning. I must say they were definitely unique. They arrived early. Checked out the entire area to be cleaned. Asked necessary questions. Set up quickly. Were very careful of personal property. Worked very quickly and thoroughly. Were very professional. From the uniqueness of their truck to the equipment and method that was used to clean my carpet, I was definitely impressed and extremely satisfied with the outcome. Incredible job! Their attention to detail was excellent. They removed stains I didn’t expect could be cleaned. Also it dried within 24 hours. I’ve had many carpet cleaners who either applied too much water or couldn’t properly extract it. I am very pleased. Highly recommended!
